My internet connection is 8mb/s, at adapter connection is 72mbps and all downloads never go above 95kbps. Any ideas guys?

The pace where you download can be slow.

And a lot of internet service providers block different things, for example some don't like pirate bay or any torrenting at all and will reduce the speed to near nothing the moment it detects it.

There are some that would even do it to anything gaming related.

The speed you think your connection runs at may simply be the maximum speed. Your wireless connection is a theoretical maximum. For all I know you also have background processes that you are unaware of also consuming bandwidth.

Sig under construction.

It's almost everything I download be it updates, steam, random other files. I do a speed test and it shows 7-8 mb/s everytime. Yeah i dont torrent at all.

If you go to speedtest.net and it shows download 7-8mb/s

then go to steam try to download something and it is that low then your net provider is blocking it, someone set your router to block it, or like above said you have something or someone consuming so much internet that it just goes that slow.

speed test shows 7-8 megabytes/s, but actual downloads outside of speed test are in the 90-120 kilobyte/s range.

Are we confusing bytes and bits here? What is your internet connections bandwidth in BITS (little b )and what are your download programs reporting? These programs will report BYTES (big B ). A byte is 8x larger than 1 bit. There are 8 bits in every byte.

If you have a connection bandwidth of 8mbps that means you can peak at around 1MBps. You also have to factor in that you will never actually get the full rated speed. Also it is important to remember that the server you are connecting to is really the one dictating the speed of the download. If it only wants to give you 100kBps, then that's all you get.
