Why does my GTX 770 do this?

I've noticed that when my GPU hits around 70 degrees, it freezes in game. Now, what I'm thinking is that when it reaches 70 degrees, it bottlenecks itself in order to cool a little. This is what's freezing me in games.. How can I fix it?

Because it senses the force becoming to hot >-< Its just getting too hot. Try turning to fan up or getting more air to it in your case. Maybe try getting a case fan on it or something.

I didn't overclock at all.

Try reinstalling the drivers and it should go up to 80C because of Boost 2.0

 

I installed the drivers on Monday so they're up to date.

No but I'm downloading some now.

This was happening to me on the 320.49 drivers

Well sometimes they put out an unstable/bad driver!
