4460 vs 4590

It seems like everyone recommends the intel i5 4460 as a <$200 cpu, but what's wrong with the i5 4590?  Passmark benchmark results seem different enough to matter, and the cost is only about $10 difference on amazon.  Thoughts?

The 4590 isn't that much better (it's basically an irrelevant difference) and is often more than just $10 more.

Meh, i'd rather spend the "saved" money on a decent cooler and just OC the base clock a little.

Apart from clock speed there's no difference between locked i5s you might as well get the cheapest

Because when you look at all the prices available the 4460 is about 20-30 dollars cheaper and is only 100 Mhz slower. Both are locked either way.

Marginal performance increases that you will never notice. It's something you could match with a small BCLK bump on the 4460. the 4590 is not the best for the price.

budget for most people since the difference in speed is negligible, performance wise. Most say 4460 as even ten bucks can be spent to get a better gpu or cooler or mobo

These results are negligible?

Synthetic benchmarks don't accurately represent real world performance. And it looks like the 4590 has a 300MHz higher boost clock than the 4460. 3.7 on the 4590 vs 3.4 on the 4460.

At $10 more the 4590 is a much better buy than the 4460. The 4590 runs at 3.5 GHz on all cores under load, while the 4460 only runs at 3.2 GHz on all cores. That's a 9% difference, so for $10 more the 4590 would be an obvious choice. I'd personally go as much as $20 more for a 4590 over a 4460 for that nontrivial bump in clockspeed.

The only difference is the clock speeds, I would personally spend the $10 more. It's something i definitely wouldn't regret in the long run but getting a slower chip just for the sake of saving $10 is something i would likely regret. Everyone is different though, If you're on a tight budget and that $10 effects the rest of your build such as your choice of CPU cooler it might be worth saving that $10 and putting it elsewhere. The difference the speed will make is minimal.
