I have a gtx970 and I get very good fps but I get weird tearing on objects ingame so its not the screen itself, and also weird stutter. I have tried to set max_fps ingame but that makes me lag more and vsync is just terrible. Any suggestions involving the nvidia control panel and such?

Are you overclocking?

Yes I have a large overclock.

You can always use an external frame capper.

I guess so but im sure it will have the same effect.

Lower the clock. That'll solve it.

It won't hurt to try :P

cap it at like 120fps if you've got a 60/120fps monitor or 144 if 144hz

Are you positive? Have you experienced this yourself?

Yes I have a large overclock.

thats the reason of the tearing, your OC isnt stable, try to lower it to like +100MHz Core Clock

The high fps in CS:GO will make stuttering and tearing more obvious with an unstable overclock.

It is *SOMETIMES* better to do it of a multiple, 288 FPS, 240 FPS and 120 FPS

Scrap this, I've muddled up two different threads like a tard!

I normally have 300fps or more and don't notice tearing so there could be truth in this.

i've experience it myself :P, or could you atleast give some suggestion ?

Overclocking, stable or unstable, increases the performance of your graphics card.

This can introduce tearing on your monitor because you are getting a higher framerate than your monitor supports. The solution is to enable V-Sync (no, you will probably not notice the "input lag" it has)

An unstable overclock could create black triangles, funky colored pixels or just crash, these are called artifacts.

I get 300 FPS or more, I learned not to limit to 60, about 4 tears AT ALL TIMES
