Got a free computer and looking to upgrade it for the wife. Just has to be enough to run photoshop. What I'm trying to figure out is if I can replace the stock motherboard for a aftermarket, the model number of the motherboard is M2N68-LA 5.00. It's got a Sempron 140 AMD CPU LOL, owner gave it to me because it became slow. It's so packed with dirt you can't see the fins of the heat sink behind the fan xD. Ideally I'd like to replace the motherboard and CPU, and run a 750ti or comparable GPU. Going to replace the PSU and HDD as well. If anyone knows what this board relates to, if it does, to a replacement I'd be very thankful.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Let me guess, HP Pavilion? Lol, but you can use pretty much any mATX board. If your computer has a Bestec or LiteON PSU then toss it in the trash(well, recycle) and get something else, but if its Delta then blow out the dust and reuse it(if you go with 750 ti). Only thing I have to warn you about is the terrible airflow with the Pavilion cases(well, most HP cases since they use the same design).

If I were you I would geek out with the Sempron and get a cheap AM3 board(with SB710 chipset) and unlock the Sempy into a Athlon, then OC to 3.5ish Ghz.

Compaq LOL and ja it's a Bestec. I've been looking at where I can help with the airflow and I have some surplus 120 case fans that I could shoe horn in. I'm going to look into that board right now. Thanks

Damn, so close, but Compaq is basically the same as HP now lol. Improving the airflow in your case isn't impossible though, just depends on how much you are willing to do. The simple thing is to mount a fan on the side panel vent, or you can cut apart your case like I did(link in my sig).

Found what appears to be it, I'll have to see if I can find some measurements. If the CPU is smoked form being run into the ground by it not being cleaned, any recommendations for something that will only see Photoshop and possibly some videos form Netflix and the like? Doubt she'd game with it but stranger things have happened.

Me personally I would go with a 6300/mb combo from microcenter for 95 bucks or get an x4 used.  Of for the cheapest option just go with a A10 7850K and a cheap 68 chipset MB, wont stress out the PSU. My 7850 will work on a LiteON 220 watt PSU and does everything including playing BF4 at 1080 medium at 27 to 30 fps
