I want to transform my current system into a mini itx build so its easier to carry around and overall I want a smaller build. Before I go ahead and order the parts, I want to make sure everything fits together

New build including my pre owned parts and new parts

Case: Phanteks enthoo evolv itx case

Motherboard: EVGA Z87 Stinger

GPU: Asus 980ti STRIX 6gb

CPU: Intel 4790k

Ram: Kingston HyperX Savage 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 2400MHz

PSU: EVGA P2 1000w

CPU Cooler: Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3

Storage: 250ish samsung ssd and 2 WD 1TB hard drives

My main concern is about my cpu cooler. I am not a big idea of putting a water cooler in my case (I know they usually dont leak but I dont want to worry about it). I know the be quiet cooler will fit into the phanteks case, but will it fit on the motherboard, and without damaging it?

Thanks for any reply!!!

Your cooler will most likely fit the motherboard. Why Z87 and not Z97? Did you already have the part?

Ha! I didnt see it on amazon...

Is this it? http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Stinger-LGA-1151-Motherboard-111-SS-E172-KR/dp/B013ALA61S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1443641775&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+z170+stinger

That's a Z170 board, not a Z97 board. Z170 is for Skylake chips which use a completely different socket.

Something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/GRYPHON-Armor-Edition-Intel-Motherboard/dp/B00KQPLD50 would work

I would personally opt for a liquid cooler. Good air coolers are heavy so it will be a pain to carry around and a lot of ITX cases have their motherboards mounted sideways. I have to be careful with my mATX build as its motherboard is mounted sideways and I have a heavy NH-D14. I am always weary of the stress the cooler puts on the motherboard and especially weary to move it very carefully.
