No, you can run all 4 off of the GTX 980.

Well I would say it depends. If you plan on game on the three 144Hz monitors you might have some troubles with keeping the fps over 144Hz. Might work but I'm not sure that in the latest AAA titles you will reach 144Hz on three monitors with only one 980.
