Alright im sorry if this is a silly question, but this will be my first pc i've built and i need advice. I am going with the amd fx6300 cpu and i was wondering which would be better or if there are any noticable differences. Between using the msi gaming 970 or the msi gaming 990fx board with the fx 6300?

No one here would actually recommend you use a FX 6300, it may seem like a great idea at first but any of the current generation i3's perform much better. Also if you go with the intel platform you'll be able to upgrade to something far more powerful down the road.

Personally I would recommend you go with any of the i3's that start with i3-41__ and then pick up an h81 or b85 motherboard by AsRock, or Gigabyte. You'll save money and will have much better options down the road.

This is what I'd do with $800. A system like this will kick pretty much any games ass at 1080p with 60fps on high / ultra details.

And at $900 this is even better.

No SSD?

Performance in games now, quick boot times later. I mean don't get me wrong, I love my SSD but raw gaming performance is more important now, when SSD's drop in price to a 512GB SSD costing only $100 then an SSD should be included in anything $800 and up, but not just yet.
