Get a 390 if you want a bit more performance for the same cost but else it's solid

EDIT: The VRAM will help a lot with more monitors for surround gaming - 3.5GB will be an issue if you wish to game on all 3

Please don't get Razer products. The build quality is sub-par for the price you pay

Edit: Wouldn't an i7 or a Xeon make more sense for editing workloads?

Maybe some 1866 speed ram for that board, you need that few more nanoseconds of speed for the same price.

Also when you get that monitor please review i am thinking of getting it.

I don't actually give useful information, hopefully I just  say something funny.

then what would you recommenced

Literally any of the other peripheral companies that make 'gaming' stuffs. I think the only Razer product I can actively recommend is the DeathAdder 2013 but even that has its problems and I don't like recommending it.

EDIT: Sapphire or MSI for the 390 :)

At present you can't go wrong with an ASUS MOBO and the cooler is really working for the 390.

I try to stay away from MSI and Galax because of their aftermarket support like if you remove the cooler you void the warranty and their drivers are a bit wonky in the past, z97 and x99 seems to be stable though.

Sapphire one sits at 74*C

MSI sits at 75*C

^ is in your opinion or for real because when i had my Galaxy card i found out differently. Galax, formerly Galaxy, has great GPUs but seriously poor support, and they are, or were not upfront with their warranty policy in the past. I have since moved to EVGA but if i had to purchase a GPU now, i would get an AMD, from ASUS but i have never had any experience with Sapphire even though they seem to be popular for AMD.

As a owner of an Asus R9 280 I tell you. Look another way - Sapphire Dual-X card is a lot cooler and more reliable - Sapphire's support is also better. Their Vapor-X cards are better than almost all other coolers on the market - probably only EVGA KingPin and Lightning from MSI can outclass them. Even then it's a hard one

I don't know how to navigate this forum very well so i hope you don't mind me asking my question here. I'm on a limited budget, i want to build a PC for 3D modeling and casual gaming. What do you guys think of these parts I've selected? Remember i'm a noob so i could have made a lot of mistakes in picking parts that i'm sure you guys can educate me on. Thanks in advance!

@Layke

So that is a $400 budget?

You could try something like this:

$430

So if i were to buy a better GPU at a later date...

1. all i would have to do is upgrade the power supply, right? So would it be worth it to buck up and buy a better power supply now?

2. Also I'm interested to get your input on the one 8 gig stick vs two 4 gig.

3. is there a way to save on the CPU at all? If not then i could make it work

4. should i get a cheap optical disk drive for installing drivers and such?

Thanks your a big help

1.  Yes and no.  The power supply I selected is fine for the PC without a GPU.  With a GPU I would recommend a good power supply... something like these:

Non-Modular

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-pro650wp1650snlb9

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-pro850wp1850snlb9

Modular (full and semi)

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220gs0550v1

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ssr550rm

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550bbefx

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-power-supply-capstoneg550

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220gs0650v1

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-110b20750vr

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-power-supply-capstoneg750

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-hcg850m

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-110b20850v1

2.  The 8GB stick was because of the motherboard.  It only has two DIMM slots.  Grabbing 8GB now leaves room to add another for a total of 16GB.

3.  I would push for the Skylake i5 because of the better iGPU.  You can save a bit going Haswell (i5 4460), but the graphics are not as strong.  I guess it depends on when you plan on adding a GPU.

4.  You do not need an optical drive, unless you need it.  Windows can easily be installed using a USB stick.

You are welcome.
