Hi,

I have a bit of an awkward dilemma that I hope some of you may be able to help me with. I go to school up north, but also go back home during breaks. That being said, it's rather hard to transport my entire PC at home to and from school via plane. I'm currently using a pretty old and soon outdated HP Pavillion dv6 laptop as my gaming rig at school, but I was hoping to upgrade to something a bit better. Would it be possible for me to simply put my graphics card and/or RAM in my suitcase on the plane and bring them wherever I go? I would obviously have to build some sort of rig at school, but if I could save ~$400 on parts that would be great. My GPU is an MSI GTX 970 4G, and my RAM is 16GB (2x8GB) of Crucial Ballistix Sport. RAM should be easy, but how should I protect the GPU during flight? I don't have the original box/foam. Ideas?

Get some antistatic bag and old newspaper. Pack the GPU in the bag and place it in a box/suitcase. Do some newspaper arround and you should be good to go.

I successfully hacked 127.0.0.1! Now I cant turn on my computer :/

look for the right size and stuff

Also ask if any friends if they have any anti static bags. Also wrapping it in a towel maybe if newspaper is to hard to find?

If I use words like probably or most likely, it is because I dislike certainty. These words can probably be omitted and the sentence read as a certainty.

I just kept the original box that my 980ti came in from gigabyte and anytime i go home from college I just take my gpu out of the computer put it in the original box and then the rest of the case (everything besides the gpu still intact) into the original case box and bring it back with me. The only thing really in danger of being damaged during the move (for me I only drive back to my house not on a plane) is the GPU with its a bit more fragile connection the the motherboard, everything else is screwed down and secure or in the case of RAM doesnt really have enough weight/ leverage to damage itself.

I would do that if I had my original box, but sadly I don't.
