Can't get new speakers to connect properly

Pyromaniac225

Title, got a pair of these

http://www.klipsch.com/promedia-v-2-400-computer-speaker-system/details

I'm positive I connected the speakers up to the bass unit correctly (Through the exposed wires going into the clips in the back)

However I am not getting any signal. It has a purple and green connector but whenever I correspond them to the appropriate slots in the back of my motherboard (MSi GD65 Gaming) but all I get is static.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong and a bit of a noob to higher end speakers.

If someone could give me a small tutorial or something to help me get them working (but also keep my headset working) that would be fantastic.

(As long as I can click a couple buttons in a menu to switch back to my headset, I'm good)

Thanks,

pyro

Is your headset USB? Did you set the appropriate device to default in widows settings?

headset is not USB (HyperX Clouds plugged in through front panel)

I disabled all others so that it was forced to default.

I'll take another look before I head to class in the morning.

Another setting that is somewhat hidden: right click on the device and select configure speakers.

Ok, I'll try that later today

EDIT: I don't know where that setting is.

Also, I don't know if I have them plugged in to the right ports.

The jacks are purple-ish pink and lime green, which are plugged into the jacks of the same color (which are L-in and L-out)
