Just put together my new 8520k with msi pluse x99A board and some crosair vengance 3000mhz ram but to get the ram to 3000 I need to enable XMP mode this raises the cpu base clock to 125 can I mannually change this ? I will be overclocking the cpu more in the next few days

You can do a full edit (click edit, full edit) to change the title.

 

AFAIK some motherboards require a higher base clock to run the ram at the desired speed, so I doubt you can change it manually unless you downclock your ram. I believe Linus/NCIX has a video about it, not sure though
