Hi guys,

I need your thought on this. I have EVGA GTX 970 FTW edition video card and it has a bit loud coil whine whenever I game (Ultra/Highest Settings) and even when I use Adobe photoshop (smugging tools, etc.). I bought it few months ago and I only use it every weekend. The card itself is in a very good condition in a well tidy Case. I haven't OC it or didn't tweak anything on it. So I tried contacting EVGA about it and they decided to replace it with FTW+. I've been reading about RMA cards for a few days now and learned that most of the time they will only give you a used one and sometimes a card that is still faulty just like your first one. So my question is, is it worth it to send off my card to them and have my chances on the replacement FTW+ edition? I'm afraid I'll get a used one which is also not in a good condition and my FTW is a bit new but with coil whines. I'm also thinking of just selling this one then buy a FTW+  because if I compare the cost of shipping and fees compared to buying a new FTW+, the difference is maybe around $100 NZD or more. How about your experience on your RMA cards? Any thoughts out there? Thanks!

Regards,

MM

Get the FTW+, it most likely will work.  If not, just RMA it again and hope they give you something even better.

But the whine is so irritating sometimes, even when working quietly with Photoshop. They already approved the RMA, will be replacing it with FTW+

@Amazingasian - I hope I get a decent condition card if ever. The thing is, the fees I need to spend if the replacement is not working or in a bad condition.

Not true at all, most companies do rma cards with loud coil whine. I would go for it if they already approved it, rather get a refurbished card with no whine, then to live with coil whine.
