Yes you can, but if you OC it a lot, you ll have to lower the frequency of the ram, But im running it at 4.2 GHz with 1866 MHz ram

Yes, you can although there will be no noticeable benefit from it.

So if i overclock the CPU i cant use high frequency memory?

If you overclock the cpu, overclocking ram becomes more unstable and vice versa.

Ok ty.

What's better?

G skill Ripjaws X 1600mhz Cas 9

VS

G skill Ares         1866mhz Cas 10

The difference will be unnoticeable, just get the one that looks better in your system

whatever is cheaper/ matches your build color scheme. they are fairly similar!

You really wont receive any real world performance gains by going with faster memory, unless you win rar all day, everyday!

if they are the same price, go with the 1866 kit

Some chips will overclock better than others, this goes for both RAM and CPU.  If you get good samples on both, you may be able to overclock both very high.  It is a lottery though.

On another note, RAM speed does not really impact performance anyway unless you are running some specific applications.
