Hamachi does install locally. iirc the way it works is it creates a virtual network card on the machine you install it on with a network route to anyone else on that hamachi network. Other machines on your local network wont see this as a route as they wouldnt be going via this machine for routing (this would be your default gateway/router in a normal network)
