Re using windows disc

Yes, yes ,yes i understand that you shouldnt do this. But you see, my friend wants my friend, is building a new computer and he wants to re-use a windows cd to install windows.

Can "he" do this?

And after the install can "he" upgrade to windows 7 directly after?

its fine, a cd is a cd... as long as he has his own windows key

 

you can download windows right from microsoft and create a windows install cd

There is no reason not to use a Windows install disk again. The install disk will only install a 30-day trial if you don't put a valid licence key in.

By license key do you mean the product key? its is 25 digits

Yep that's the one.

 If you have a valid licence for that PC then reusing the install disk won't cause any issues (assuming its the right version of Windows)

 

Edit: Your licence may be an OEM licence. If it is then you won't be able to transfer it to a new PC. Any off the shelf (that hasn't been changed) will have an OEM licence. The licence sticker should say if it's OEM or retail

Where are you looking at the licence? If it is on a Windows COA sticker it should say if it's OEM. If you have a system with the licence on just look in system properties. An OEM licence will have "OEM" in the "Product ID":
