it's probably a dry bearing - are they unstable or just noisy?

I'm pretty sure they are unstable as at higher speeds the rattling is non existent.

I mean set the speed to when it rattles and look at it - if it behaves weirdly and if it's unstable - as in wombling around - then it needs replacing. if it's stable then it needs WD40

If they are just noisy and don't wobble, you could try taking the card out. turning it up-side down and putting a drop of 3-in-1 oil into where the fan splits.

I'll probably get shot down for that but it has worked in the past, as long as you don't soak the thing in it. '

But if your fan wobbles horribly don't bother your fan is shot.

Thanks!

Hah - I know the feeling :/

It's definitely stable.

It's definitely stable.

Edit: I just noticed something, my 270x's fan in question stops rattling if I put a little pressure on the card itself. What does this mean?

Pressure? As in?

If I lift up or touch my 270x the rattling goes away.

Hmmm - could be a broken bearing but that's more unlikely. can you make a video of it?

sounds as if your fans off kilter, push the fan in quite hard pressing the centre of it ( while its off)  then slightly tilt it with your thumb doing a circular motion ONLY SLIGHTLY) then pop the card back in and it should have sorted it. unconventional, but it does work =)

Funny I actual have the same problem with one of my cards. when I ramp it up to exactly 55% on speed fan it 'rattles' but if mine dies I can finally ditch these 260x's for a 960 :D

960? HERESY! BLASPHEMY! SACRILEGE!

Lets say I try everything and the problem persists, if I set my fans to a speed where they don't rattle, will my fans by ok?

yeah but eventually they will break, they are just plastic, and my have a negative effect on cooling, just monitor the sound and temps, and you'll be fine

Ok, I think lubing it will fix it BUT, doing what muffin said made it so that it rattles soo slightly that it's not there anymore Thanks guys! But I have one concern, I realize that my card is sagging abit, like 1.5 cm.

if it still rattles do what i said a little harder.. but not to much!, dont hulk smash it or anything ;) ,can you post a side pic so we can see the card sag, will help us determine if its to much or something not to worry about =)
