Wasn't sure where to post this but -

This is my first time building a computer, so I wanna know that the research I've done into th parts pays off because really I don't know what this will turn out like. In short - tell me if its good or crap; all criticism is welcome.

@Jake_JLB Seems alright apart from go with Skylake. Also, make sure to rub your feet on the carpet and touch all the PC's to give you extra FPS in game.

I'm joking, I guess you are aware of static. Just a lot of expensive kit to "throw around" with static hands so be careful.

Also, I think there is a typo after Heat Sink. What cooler are you going to use?

CPU: i5 4670k @ 3.4GHz + Corsair H100i      GPU: Gigabyte GTX 680 SOC (+215 Core|+162 Mem)     SSD: Kingston V300 240GB (OS)      Headset: Logitech G930

Thanks for the advice! I was also told to put the power supply in first and build the rest of the PC with wet cotton socks on my hands :)

But seriously I'm slightly oblivious when it comes to this as I said I'm a total beginner. I thought two intake fans and 3 exhaust fans would fool it but now I'm guessing I need an actual cooling device? Could you enlighten me?

Yeah sure, so when you get a CPU you get a stock cooler and they look like this:

Ewwwwww, stock coolers look bad and there performance is not as good as other coolers. They are fine unless you want to overclock and also piece of mind that your CPU is getting a lot cooler and should prolong the life of it when it is at cooler temps.

There are two different types of cooler (well 3 depending how you look at it):

Heat sink + Fan Cooler

Closed Loop Water Cooler

Water Block and loop

They are in price order, (well kind of) Heat Sinks are generally lower, but you also have to buy fans to go with the heat sink. Normally people will go with the Hyper 212 Evo and maybe Noctua fans (all can be found on Google). This is a good cooler for the price and will do all that is needed for overclocking and high CPU usage.

Closed loop is where you have a water block on the CPU and water will travel through tubes through and through a radiator. The radiator is then cooled, this is good because you are moving the heat away and cooling it somewhere else, also it looks cool. Again, you need fans (but most come with fans but they are bad) to cool the radiator.

This is a Corsair H100i. A well known Closed loop water cooler which can deliver really good temperatures for your CPU. However it comes with a LARGE price tag compared to Heat Sinks. And for only a little better (or even no) increase in CPU temps.

Lastly there is a full loop/custom loop, mainly these are over the top and are very very cool but also expensive and your temperatures are roughly the same any way (apart from GPU).

This is a full water cooled build where water is transfered over the different components to cool them and then the radiator and fans will cool the water down.

It is up to you what to get I recommend either Heat Sink or Water Cooler, which ever you find cooler (no pun intended). I personally have a Closed Loop water cooler and have no regrets, it is really good and I get 33 - 42 degrees. (42 being high room temp as well).
