hey guys i got the powerline adapter from netgear

http://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/powerline/XAVB5221.aspx#tab-techspecs

and the weird thing is that it has a 10/100 port but they market it for 500mbps speeds and when i tried i reached the theoretical speed limit of 12mbps of the 10/100 connection am i wrong or they are stupid to market it for 500mps speeds ?

I don't know much about the hardware limitations of the switch that they're using, I would have thought that it's more dependent on the controller instead of the physical port. As for the actual speed... It really depends on the copper infrastructure of your house. If it's hitting theoretical limits of 10/100... I'd say that the controller they're using is higher spec than 10/100, because there's always going to be overhead with those kinds of connections. It should top out at about 20% below that. I don't know though. Perhaps it's marketing.

They say it's capable of those speeds but you're limited by the ports max speed of 100mbps.
