I was really excited with my new build with the brand new i7 skylake upgrade after staying quite sometime with gen 1 i7 as well as getting a new GTX 980 graphic card. I installed my good old W8.1 Pro and reserved my W10 update..After a week, it came downloading and installing. The whole installation was smoothly done, and I loved the new UI so much that I want to be with W10 AGAIN.

Note...AGAIN because after few minutes of using W10 (I installed all latest drivers available) BSoDs started to pop up like a pop corn bag in microwave...no joke around 10 of them (differently after few minutes of using)it made me seriously panicked that it was a hardware failure, but it wasn't after I reverted back to W8.1 none of those W10 BSoD appeared again. I talked to a friend who have just recently upgraded to W10 Education Edition (or something like that) and he said he encountered the same problem, and has gone back to 8.1 for a peace of mind.

So, I've been rolling with W8.1 for a month now, and is wondering if there are others that encountered these problems, and has it been fixed...

The only thing that turned me off the idea of using Windows 10 was Microsoft storing information about everything I do on my PC (including what I say)

Then I remembered I don't do anything illegal.

maybe i'm just lucky, or maybe your drivers just kept messing up somehow?

Sure you dont do anything illegal but do you want Microsoft (and the US Government) having access to all your personal data?

Well, I did grab the latest drivers around and made sure they were compatible to W10, it wasn't a long period of time (3 days) but the BSoD made it feel to long.

Does it even matter beyond a certain point? You could be in the Truman Show for all you know, that doesn't change the way you live your life in any meaningful way. Unless you have sensitive and private information on your pc, let them have it. Or rather, once you turned everything off, if they still want your stuff that badly just let them have it.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

And then you actually do research and notice that both windows 7 and 8 had this update and they are collecting information either way. Everyone is, get with the times, if you think that anyone providing a service for you isn't collecting your information I have some really bad news for you...

Anyway, Windows 10 is worth it in my opinion. I could go back to 8.1 but I would never go back to 7, I used it on a laptop recently and I have a feeling as if I reverted back to Win XP. Feels old and slow compared to 8.1 and 10. :)

I would actually support a class-action lawsuit against Microsoft for spying on people.

Who decides what is illegal or rather who will decide?  Will the government in twenty years or so, decide that... is still legal ?

If I commit a future-crime now (meaning that what I did was not yet a crime at the time I did it) then they cannot legally hold me accountable. Ex post facto.

Sure, the same would go to any other manufacturer. In fact, Google has more data on you, it has your contacts, their numbers, emails, location (along with facebook), how frequently you contact them, your text messages backup, same goes for Apple, and we all know how well that iCloud hack went. Microsoft is no different, but there are companies that have much more of your data. Wasn't it Steam or Origin that recently was accused of scanning your PC for pirated games etc. I could go on for hours...

What data would you define as persona, and why exactly would you care about the government having it? What could they do with that data that would harm you in any way?

I imagine all they do with their data is run it through software to make graphs and charts of numbers of clicks, speed of clicks, most common words typed, etc.

It's called ex post facto. You can't be arrested for something that's illegal if you did it before it was illegal.

Besides, they aren't using this information to catch crimes. I think they only use your info for statistics and anti-terrorism.

Privacy is dead.

it so is.  what is different with microsoft, it is an operating software.  you dont have to use google, facebook, steam.  but in order for your collection of pc parts to be useful you need an os. sure there are alternatives. spying on me isnt cool.
