This is my first post so if I've done something wrong, please be nice :)

I've recently finished my first PC build and it's running great, the best PC I've ever owned honestly, and as the topic name suggests I need some advice on what to upgrade first as I did build on a budget.

My parts are :

               CPU - Intel Pentium G3258

Motherboard - MSI H81M-P33 LGA1150 M-ATX

              RAM - Crucial Ballistix 240 Pin DDR3 8GB ( 4gbx2)

GPU - Asus Nvida GeForce GT740

        Storage - Seagate Barracuda 3.5inch 2TB x1

PSU - EVGA Supernova 650W G1 Gold Modular Power Supply

        Cooling - Stock Intel Fan

Not the best build around, but for my first build/budget I don't think it's so bad.

I should say this, I will be getting more storage as well as an SSD once I have a bigger case, A better GPU isn't a necessity as this PC is mainly for recording not gaming, though I wont turn down any recommendations for one! I think mainly just a CPU upgrade is what I'm after, but why limit myself right? :P

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance! <3 :D

When you say Asus Nvidia GeForce GT780, did you mean the GTX 780, or the 7800GT? Didn't know there was a GT780, and Google didn't help me in finding one..

It's GT740! I type it wrong my bad!

Ahhhh, makes more sense ;P The, contrary to what @Mohenjo said, you aren't bottlenecking with the G3258. I would, however, look into an i5 with a beefier GPU to pair if you plan on doing any sort of gaming, as recording and gaming on the same machine can be taxing on both the CPU and GPU. I don't know which i5s are good, been an AMD fan until I learned that the IPC and architecture of AMD is several years old now, so I would look to someone else to give a better recommendation there. Same goes for the GPU. Though, I think an R9 380 or R9 280x would be a safe bet.

Sadly, due to the nature of your lower-ended specs for a gaming build, it will cost more to get some better performance.

You could probably do with a cheaper powersuppply.

Like a cooler master v550s

I do have an i5 processor in mind to upgrade, I'm honestly not too worried when it comes to gaming with this current build, I'm one of those console gamers you see :P

Thanks for the suggestions though I will definitely look into those GPUs you mentioned :)

Is there any reason in particular to get that power supply over my current one? Sorry if this is an obvious point I really am still slightly clueless when it comes to PC parts

Well, you dont need more than 500w...that its.

Dont need it? Dont buy it.

And if im not mistaken the Cooler Master V series is higher quality than the EVGA G1 series.

I did not know that, I just assumed I'd need as much power as I could put money into..

I will definitely keep in mind what you've said when I go to upgrade or even make a second PC, Thanks! :)
