Thoughts on Astrill VPN

Hi everyone,

 

JayzTwoCents recently uploaded a video about a vpn service called Asrtill. Both him and Barnacules seem to really like the service so I thought I would check it out. I read some reviews online and a lot of people seemed to have issues with their service (mainly their customer support). I was wondering if anyone who has subscribed to Astill could offer their thoughts on it? I have used Private Internet Access in the past but I had to get a refund as it was limiting my 60Mb connection to 10Mb (After about a week of emailing support, they recommend I just get a refund).

By check it out I mean look into the service, see what they offered and read some reviews. Sorry about the ambiguity.

Astrill has been dodgy for at least a week now. Many of my coworker's are having serious problems with Astrill this week. It's working okay for me, but I'm spending more amount of time trying to find working servers.

Ok, thanks for your input. I'll hold off on buying it for now. Do you mind if I message you in a week or two to see if the problems are still present?

Well I have changed vpn and will suggest you to change vpn rather than waiting to see the result

strongvpn is defiantly better

I quickly looked into strongvpn. I'm not a fan of the limited amount of times you can switch servers. For Netflix I would want to connect to an american server where as I would connect to one in Canada for most other web services. I would definitely switch servers more than 25 times a month.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by usgin a dns. If I where to use a different dns server that would just change the server that resolves the netflix.com name to 74.101.139.66. Would the request not still be made using my assigned ip?

I use a american dns

netflix and hulu then think your in the usa

and you don't have the overhead of a vpn/loose any speed

Ok, cool. I'll try it out now. what server do you use. I was planning on just using the google dns but I was wondering of you knew of a better one.

I think Private Internet Access is good, Ive used it on a 1000mbit down and got around 800-900 on speedtest with them.

 

You do get better speed if you use UDP for your connection, not TCP
