CPU1+CPU2 vs P8 cables

Go to solution Solved by Andi,

So that Pyu really has 2 eps connectors . You can use The 8pin for your cpu

Hi, I wanted to ask if it matters which one you plug in the 8-pin CPU header. I have these 2 on 1 bundle of cables and the pins are exactly the same, but the P8 is longer, so I could hide it behind the motherboard without any reductions. I wasn't sure, so I just used the CPU1 and CPU2 4+4pin connectors. I have MSI Z87 G-45 board, will the P8 damage it?

no, one is labeled P8, the second 2 are labeled CPU1 and CPU2 and when plugged together they have same pins as P8. But I heard that P8 is used in old boards and if you plug in bad connectors it can damage the motherboard so I ask if it is safe to plug it in there.

the PSU is FSP CM750 Aurum: http://www.fspgroupusa.com/aurum-cm-gold-750-au750m/p/869.html

The cables are similiar to SATA harnesses when you have more connectors on 1 cable.

I actually got a pic, it doesn't catch the 4 pin themselves but you can see where they are and that the P8 cable is continuing from them: DSC_0016_1.jpg

Thanks, I can finally finish my cable management!

It is working perfectly, I had a little trouble closing the side panel for whatever reason, but I got it so thanks. I'll mark this solved.
