spliter with design r5 controller?

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

I checked the web site and it says only 3 on the spliter. :(

You can split one of the lines so it can handle a total of 4 fans if you'd like, but it is only DC voltage control.

There is extra room on the fan controller - you shouldn't need a splitter.  Also, if you add PWM fans you can just set a fan profile in software (or in BIOS).

I don't use the included fan controller on my r5.  I prefer PWM fans.

Doesn't it only have room for 3 fans? I will be using 4 more than likely.

I can check later tonight and get back to you if you'd like.

There are only 3 on the splitter indeed.  I contacted Fractal because I planned on running 5 in the NAS (ended up using 6) and considered using Y-splitters to put all the fans on the built-in controller.  They said that while the switch itself could handle the extra load, the wires most likely wouldn't.

I wasn't too sure what to think of that because my SW2 fans are very low wattage, but I decided not to take any chances and put a proper fan controller in one of the 5.25" bays.
