How do you go back to your base? All I can do is go to helicopter :/.

you should have an option under the missions tab saying something along the lines of return to motherbase when in the ACC (ariel command center, aka helicopter)

Options in the iDroid seem to vanish and reappear depending on what's going on. It may just be that the game wants you to complete the next mission first, or something.

 

If you're out on foot in Afghanistan, you'll probably need to call for a pickup and get back to the helicopter before the Mother Base option appears.
