Which CPU should I buy?

Looking for a new computer and wondering if I should buy i5 or i7. And no, no AMD.

What I will be doing mostly is gaming. Not really a video editer, but I might do some videos sometimes. Games I will be playing is GTA V, BF4, Arma 3, Witcher Wild Hunt and other high graphics-games.

Is the i5 just as good as i7 when it comes to gaming?

I don't really want to spend a lot of money, and I know the i7 is better, just to mention it.

If you aren't overclocking, you could get a Xeon E3-1231v3, basically a hyperthreaded i5 but not unlocked.To answer your question though, there'll be a negligable difference.

Be on the lookout for 4690k on sales, might pop up now that both broadwell and skylake are out. Either way, 4690k is the way to go imho, works fine for gaming. And if you ever want to get into video editing it should be just fine. Heck, i used to edit 1080p videos on a late '08 MacBook with a C2D CPU, wasnt fast, but totaly doable.

I say get a i5 if Gaming is the ONLY goal, why not a i5-4690K or a i5-6600K? :D

it does depend on the region though. in my country not that many shops stock xeons so the i7 4790 non-k is also the same price
