~1700€ Gaming/Video Production Workstation Build

theOrangeDoom

Disclaimer: I live in Europe and will be purchasing the parts from Germany, hence it might be hard to compare prices but I'll do my best to find the cheapest ones.

I'm building a gaming, video and audio editing and producing rig/workstation. Other than that I am NOT looking for a 4k computer. If you think something could be improved please care to share.

Case: nzxt 340s (white) ~77€

Motherboard: MSI X99S SLI plus ~215€

CPU: Intel Core i7 5820K  ~386€

CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 3 ~57€

GPU: MSI GTX 970 4G vs MSI R9 390 vs ( MSI R9 390X  vs  G1 Windforce GTX 980 ) ~350€ vs 345€ ( 430€ vs 490€ )

PSU: Corsair RM 650W ~105€

RAM: 4x4GB HyperX Fury DDR4 ~115€

Storage: 1x 500GB Samsung 850 Evo ~170€

1x 2TB WD Black ~125€

1x 3TB WD Green already purchased

Fans: 2x Corsair AF140 ~31€

OS: Most likely Win 7 Ultimate

Total: 1281€ without the GPU

Questions:

The 970 vs 390 conflict has been tackled before and I am aware the 390 is an overall better GPU, my question however is, would investing more for a 390x or 980 be worth it?

Are there any advantages of Win 8, I heard Win 10 is not to be touched...

Windows 10 is fine, how much does a R9 Fury cost in Germany? Cause in 4k the the R9 Fury is superior to a GTX980, in 1440p they're about the same depending on what you're running to test it, and the 980 wins at 1080p (it all depends on the situation but that's generally how it is)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION

Well I heard there were some serious privacy problems and certain lagg issues.

Where are you buying from? For gpu a price difference between the r9 390X and 390 is not worth it. 390>970 980>390X

If you can save some money on other parts you might wanna go for 980 but otherwise 390 would be your best bet. (assuming you'll still game bellow 1440p 144Hz) Your aux monitor doesn't need that much graphics power.

You might have the same privacy issues on win7 because they put patches that bring that to win7. Win 10 can be patched so you can disable those functions

Ultimate windows tweaker 4

Ram--> corsair LPX 2400MHz/G.skill 2400MHz

Mobo: I'd recomend Asus x99 A 3.1

Gpu: 390 Nitro from shappire is cooler and preforms about the same.

>700€

Oh shit that's a lot, it should be priced around a GTX 980 I believe. Anyway, de.pcpartpicker.com claims that the cheapest R9 390X is around 410 Euro, the GTX 980 around 500 and a R9 390 around 330. This would be a good choice for you I guess if you have the money for it, other than that R9 390 is better performance per dolar-wise.

Only a few german stores ship to slovenia.

Hardwareversand used to be good but they became unreliable and removed pay pal due to recently almost going bankrupt

Mindfactory.de is one of the few that ship and have a good reputation.

Glad I could help =) Gigabyte is a reliable company and if you can afford it then the 390X is a very good card.

If you don't mind it being a bit less silent and the appearance rajintek tisis would be a better choice. Dark rock 3 is a very good cooler but the graphic card will be louder during WT anyway

I really don't think WT will be a problem for the GPU ;)
