I try to record and it shows up with black screen...audio is working fine

Thats EXACTLY what you can google...to find the solution.

Google "Shadowplay Record Black Screen Audio" and find other people with similar issues, and what they did to fix it.

I can't give an answer cos mine has never not worked.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Do you have Shadow Play's mode on Twitch or Shadow&Manual or Manual? When i have mine on Twitch i sometimes get the "black screen" but a restart always moves it.

Also, if you game at Native resolution you can enable Allow Desktop Capture, this is located under the monitor display on the shadow play's screen in GeForce Experience.

No solution. I didn't tick allow desktop capture. I ticked it and it still doesn't work

I chose in game resolution. It's on manual

Try downloading a codec pack... maybe your codecs are busted and its not playing correctly due to that, and NOT because of shadowplay.

Or try a diff player before trying codecs.

Frame Rate at 60 and Bitrate at 50?

Maybe its the video playback codecs (Watching is the OP issue I think, not recording)

Do I just search up codec pack and download the latest one?

Find K-Lite codecs in the MEDIA listings,.. and tick that then download/run/install.

Some programs like VLC/KM-Player have built in codecs they use, but its best to install a codec pack for programs that don't have inbuilt codecs.

My drivers are fully updated

Two different things buddy. Drivers are not the issue. Codecs are the issue IMO

Codecs are required to view certain video file types.

Downloading now

Without codecs, All you'll hear is Audio yes... Windows has those audio codecs natively built it.

Once the K-lite codecs are installed, you should be able to drag n drop your video into any player and it should work str8 away.

Oh lol, forgive me, I figured YOU thought I meant those.

Do I try to record and see if it works now?

If you want..

You can throw your previously recorded file (if you have it still) and it should also work.

/I do not use WindowsMediaPlayer, If it does not work, create a thread "How to enable Codecs in WMP"

State that you downloaded and ran K-lite, but WMP is not able to view video still, even with codecs installed.

Someone with prior knowledge can get it to work if it doesn't now.

I exclusively use WMP-C (Classic), I have not touched WMP since XP, but the operations for installing codecs are all the same.

The issue was not shadowplay, that works as intended.

The issue was video decoding was not happening due to no decoders installed.

IMO - Codec means= EnCoder/DeCoder

Glad its working.

Reinstall Geforce Experience, currently on 355.82 and everything works fine.

I originally thought Shadowplay was at fault too, but he did record a video fine to begin with, so I went with codecs being screwed.

I'm on 355.82. It even said go to 355.82 for best optimization for metal gear solid

I have found that when you use GeForce Experience's optimization for game, it sometimes mucks up what you want, i have stopped using it since 338.something. I just configure the control panel and disable optimizations.

Yes and i would think so to but GeForce Experience's optimizations for games is a culprit of messing up shit. He should reinstall GeForce Experience and the Driver too and don't optimize any game with the optimizations thing in GeForce, do it manually.
