Hey Buzz!

Does your hard drive use SATA connection? Also, is the sound that your hard drive is making like an occasional scratching sound? Or is it a persistent scratching and/or beeping noise?

Hopefully I can help! :)

See if this helps you in diagnosing if your HDD is dead.

I don't think there's an issue, I'm used to Windows using 100% of my HDD upon startup. The CPU and RAM usage however is a bit worrying, what is using all your resources specifically?

When you say lag spikes, does the entire system just slow down or does the speed of which you read/write files dramatically slow down.

can it be caused by a low write/read that it cant handle the amouth of files quick enough that it takes up more cpu/ram because i am getting an ssd. but if i a 120gb ssd does the job with the hdd or if i need to replace the hdd it will be a 250gb ssd

yes it is a sata connection. the sound only comes when i open up games like league of legends or downloading/installing programs.

thanks for your reply.

That's probably just busy noises. Hard drives are far from silent, and they generally make some degree of noise when in the read/write process.
