Display turns off after 2 seconds?

ContemplatingBeluga

I have a Samsung 2233sw which is like 8 years old. It has recently started facing the issue as stated in the title. I've been told that it is probably caused by a dead capacitor or inverter. Is there anyway I can change the colour bit and adjust contrast using a programme? I can't adjust the settings with the screen buttons for nuts.

If your screen turns off every 2 sec, why do you care about adjusting colors?

Repair or replace your monitor. Start with that.

But to answer your question, it is possible for a software to communicate with your monitor and adjust settings. There is a VESA standard protocol called DDC/CI. However, only the basics are covered: Brightness and Contrast control. R-G-B controls will depend on the monitor, same for input switch, than the rest is very monitor specific, and more difficult for a software to provide support.

Most decent grade monitors of today supports DDC/CI protocol to some level.
