Wired router

Go to solution Solved by Hackzzila,

As of right now I'm using a wireless router with the wireless disabled, but I'd like an actual wired router. The wireless router that I have has a horrible web page and I hate the config settings. If you guys know of a good wired router that would be great.

IT HAS TO BE GIGABIT

Thanks,

Peter

make a pfSense box :D I love mine

Is there any that you would recommend for normal PCI slots, not PCI Express?  These ones:

It seems like I'd be bottlenecked by the CPU in this machine. I get 190 down 30 up. :(

Ok then, you can build a new PC!

PC part picker list of recommendations? Add the nics on there too. I'd like it to be as cheap as possible.

Just get a board with an embedded CPU, I will make a list in a sec, I need to poop.

Very low. I have an old Xeon server with a dual NIC in it, would you recommend using that?

What specs? It should do very nicely

ASUS or TP-Link?  I have the TP-Link one now.  It has served me well for a week now.

the asus one. they're the most sold router at my local tech store, and i'm actually the only one that had issues with them. its just a power problem at my place.

i have 2 TP-links (cheapo 100mbit ones that can barely pull 50) that both show issues when i plug them in the socket that killed the asus ones, but they seem to recover themselves pretty well...

TP-Link's low end router's are only good for like a psycotherapist doing their paper work, like my dad!

The high end TP-Links are actually a huge improvement over the lower end stuff they push out.  It's like with HP.  xD

And, wow.

they're also good for greedy corporate bastards like my parents.

they first buy the crappiest cheapest router they can find, then blame me for it being painfully slow, and tell me to fix it...
