Is this possible?

Go to solution Solved by LiamApex,

Will it clone the entire HDD? I've got too much on it so will I need to clear it out to make room

it will clone your whole partition, if more space is used on your hdd than the size of your ssd you will need to make room

Is it possible to transfer the OS off of my laptops HDD onto a SSD to replace the HDD in my laptop? It's running W10 but it'll be the same hardware so it should work in theory.

How would I go about this?

Oh, My HDD is failing so I thought I'd get a SSD so I could use google drive quickly at school

So you'd clone over all your failing sectors and potentially let Windows not disable defragmenting, enabling TRIM, and driver conflicts?  (not to include other indexing features and such)...

I never said that at any point? I am just going to copy the OS so that I don't have to reinstall it as I don't have the product key from when I bought the laptop. I will be clean installing it once It has been cloned so it is fresh

Then why are you cloning it then?  You're still going to do a clean install?

I don't have the product key anymore so I can't just reinstall it

If you do a clean install, you're going to need the product key.  And you said it is a notebook, so its just a sticker on the bottom or it is integrated into the BIOS.
