5820k vs 6700k

Stick with the 5820K; the extra 2 cores will keep it more "future-proof" for the next few years. I hate using the word future-proof.

5820k is hands down a better CPU, if you can only afford it and a X99 motherboard, it's a much better choice.

Yeah so do I but no doubt the 5820k will last longer.

id actually say 6700k cause faster single core speed and i game...but the extra two cores is better for everything that uses the extra cores.but 6700k has 8 threads which will be plenty for gaming for years

I guess the 6700K might get a slight edge in games if you compare the two at stock frequency. Other than that, a decent Z170 board is not much cheaper than a decent X99 one, so the 5820K is a better bang for buck.

actually after looking at benchmarks the 5820k is right there with 6700k in single core so i'd have to agree on 5820k

I hate complaining about threads but Jesus Christ this bursts my bubble there's about 50 threads in the last 2 weeks why can't you look for answers before making a new thread?

It depends on what you do with your PC.  The extra cores are great for pro apps, but don't matter much for games.  Then again, you don't pay that much more for those extra cores.  I personally would go with the 5820k for the best value.
