My current phone contract is up, so time for an upgrade.

I've been an iPhone user for 6 years now, with the 3GS, the 4S and currently the 5S, 2 years use on each, only replacing them due to contracts being up.
I've never had an issue with any phone, or iOS, never even cracked a screen.

This time round I'm not really sure if I should just follow my pattern of upgrading iPhones and getting the 6S in a week when it comes out or swap to a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

To be honest, iPhone is starting to bore me, they always look the same, but I do like how simple it is to use, how I can easily back up and transfer it to my new phone (I still have my texts from '09), and the iPhone 6S isn't really bringing anything new to the table other than "3D Touch" or "Force Touch" or whatever name they've given it, and 16GB is really getting too small for my phone, but iPhones prices are sky high, so upgrading will cost heaps.

The Galaxy phones and Android seem to have a lot of "hype" around them, and I really like the design of the S6 Edge, but I've attempted using Android for short periods of time on friends phones ect, and it always just feels more complicated and a bit less responsive than iOS and its iPhone counterparts.

So wondering what does the forum think? Stick with the stuff I've never had an issue with and keep on with iOS9 and the iPhone 6s, or time to get a fresh start and try the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge?

Thanks.

P.S. Another issue stopping me from just switching is losing all my Apps, especially ones I paid for and still frequently use.

There is not one God send phone you have to consider what you value and what you don't.

Not really looking for a god send phone.

Honestly really just considering these 2.

Just wondering if I should swap from what I know and everything I have, to an android device that I like the look of and think some of the features are cool.

If someone has experience with the Edge and wouldn't recommend it, I'd probably stick to iPhone. If they highly recommend it, I'll probably swap

I would wait for the new Nexus launch because the only good Android experience is a stock Android experience.

Why nexus?

I honestly don't look at phones much, but I haven't heard of them in years

They are true Android phones, everyone else fucks them up with custom skins and bloat on bloat on bloat.

Your device gets new updates faster and gets support for much longer.

I can handle a bit of bloatware, Apple pack their iPhones full of it too.

But do Samsung phones get outdated quickly with no support?

Apple do lots of backwards compatibility, eg/ iOS 9, coming out next week will be available on the iPhone 4S, which was released 4 years ago. And the 5, 5S, 6 and now 6S will all be on it.

I think Force touch or 3D touch makes every phone irrelevant, at least that's how it seems when I read Anandtech's hands on with it. The ability to control how long an animation animates is pretty cool- you can press harder to make the ui respond faster and make things pop out faster rather than at a fixed interval. When they put it like this, you know something incredible is gonna come to smartphones-

The first, and probably most important change to the iPhone 6s from a user experience perspective this generation is going to be 3D Touch. After using it, I’m sure this will be widely adopted throughout the smartphone industry in about 18-24 months after the iPhone 6s.

For those of you that don't know, the editor of that article is an Android user that writes really quality reviews and analysis of smartphones. So for him to have such a positive impression of force touch means that it is truly something to be excited about.
