Hi,

I just got my new PC today, it came with windows 8 and an overclock of 4.6 on the CPU. I then upgraded to windows 10(64 bit) as I was given the option to but the CPU overclock has now reset back to 4.0.

Would I be able to safely change this myself and restore it back to how it was? Im running a MSI Z97 motheboard.

I've never overclocked before so im a bit apprehensive.

PC comes with a full watercooling loop.

Any help would be appreciated, if any furture information is needed please just give me a shout.

Thank you in advance for the assistance.

There is little risk of destroying your CPU if you do it through bios, because if it will ruin it, usually the PC will just reset. but if it had a working overclock of 4.6 just put it right back to where it was and you'll be fine, the cooling loop will protect it just fine, just don't put too many volts through it, this is the dangerous part.

Troubleshooting a pc will make you believe in gremlins.
