A friend is offering to sell me a used Asus radeon HD 5450 for about $30 USD. Should i buy it, is it any good? I thought about buying it because my hd 4200 stopped working, is it worth it? If not then i will save up for a gtx 950 or something.

Go on ebay and grab your self a used 280x or 290/x. You can normally find them for under $200usd.

buy a 380 or 280 from amd they are way better than a 950

i'm gonna say something really controversial here.

 

get a GT740.

 

its barely more expensive than the second hand card, very low wattage (thus very silent) and they actually perform pretty good for someone coming from an ancient card.

Noooo its worth $5-$10 at most. I bought mine for $40 brand new, and it was shit.

The 280X, 280, 7950, and 7970 are the WORST cards to buy used, as they were likely used for bitcoin mining.

Very likely but the op is looking for a cheap card to get, so buying a used card COULD be a possibility. I bought mine used and its running like a champ.
