Thermal Compound Help Needed!

Hi,

I am going to build a new PC soon (already ordered the parts), and I haven't built a computer for a long time (Thank Linus for his build guides). This question might sound nooby to you, but hey, I just want to be absolutely sure:

Let's say I have Arctic Silver 5 (I know it's not the best, but just as an example for what there's on the market) and a Be Quiet Pure Rock CPU cooler (which I actually already ordered). This thermal compound contains silver and the cooler has an aluminun plate which has contact to the CPU heatspreader, and I've heard of those liquid metal thermal compounds which ruin aluminum, so here's my question: Is the Arctic Silver 5 a liquid metal thing and would ruin the cooler or do liquid metal compounds contain something like gallium and the Arctic Silver 5 does not contain that and everything would be fine?

So please tell me if compounds like Arcic Silver 5 ruin Aluminun (or any other) Heatsinks or not :)

Thank you in advance!

Btw. you are an awesome community!

Arctic Silver 5 is like any regular thermal compound it won't damage aluminum heatsinks like the liquid metal stuff, only thing is Arctic Silver takes about 200 hours to cure.

Ok thank you. I just have Arctic Silver 5 around here and if it doesn't damage the heatsink I'll probably just go with this one even though it's not the best of the best.

I think you're overthinking the whole thermal compound thing :P. Any compound will do ;)
