gtx 980 ti reference Overclock

Go to solution Solved by OAcesync,

so mine doesnt have it?

Actually checked again it does seem to have voltage protection but it's still not a good PSU. You can overclock but I would be cautious when uping the voltage

HI! i just got a gtx 980 ti reference model.

Should i overclock it at all? i have a 4 years old psu lc6600gp2 v2.3 600w but still running without any problems at all and a i7-2600k 3.40ghz

what do you guys this? is it a little risky to overclock it with a old psu?

Im thinking to overclock the settings as this video shows

ill be considering to upgrade my psu if necessary

The Question is, do you need the OC right now? I only OC when i need the extra Power.

If it has a soild OEM behind it there should be know problem. My current PSU is 5+ years old and I do alot of overclocking with it

Not a good PSU, just be cautious when overclocking

does this model have the safe fail mechanism? or when the psu starts to fail i will notice. because i really dont want my gpu or cpu to fry up :/

Problem is those generic ones tend to not have those protection mechanism.

and also. when i get my new psu. shall i oc like in that video?

You can't because Overclocking is the silicon lottery you may not get the exact same overclock as someone else nor could you without potentially running into problems

Just use this: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/403328-nvidia-amd-graphics-card-overclocking-guide/
