So today i got all my parts for my Skylake build, soon i had it put together and started it up but unfortunately it wont boot and i get error code 55 on my motherboard which means "No memory installed" after getting the code i tried every possible combination possible for my ram, after getting no results i looked to the internet to hopefully come up with some reasons it wont register my ram. Soon im checking my RAM slots and my CPU slots intensely and nothing seemed wrong no pins or anything bent and all the contact points look good with no imperfections. unfortunately this is my first DDR4 build so i cant check my ram in another system or vice versa, so here i am wondering if you guys have any idea of what could be causing this or how to narrow down the suspects to catch the one responsible.

System Specs:

MB- EVGA Z170 FTW

CPU- i7 6700k

GPU- EVGA GTX 980ti Classified

PSU- EVGA Supernova 850G

RAM- Kingston HyperX 2666 (2x8GB)

SSD- Samsung 840 EVO

Case- NZXT H440

Cooler- Corsair H100i GTX

I am having the exact same issue!  Both sticks of RAM in any of the 4 DIMM slots and same thing every time, no POST, no video on monitor, and error 55 on Mr. Debug.

My build:

Mobo: ASRock z170 Extreme 4

CPU: Intel i5 6600k

RAM: Kingston Hyper x Fury 2666 (2x 8GB)

Vid: Radeon R9 390

Heatsink: NZXT Kraken x61

PSU: Rosewill Glacier 1000w

I am going to run to Microcenter in the morning and pick up some RAM, hopefully that will work. I have already replaced my motherboard with the same model and that did not fix it for me. Please stay in touch with this thread as I would love to get going on this thing.

Copied directly from your MBs manual from EVGA website, page 15:

"The memory controller on most Skylake CPUs runs at a default frequency of 2133MHz.

To achieve memory speeds of 2133+ may require manual setting of the memory timings, frequency and voltages and/or overclocking of the CPU.

Refer to the memory manufacturer specifications for the recommended memory timings."

Sounds like you're going to have to go into BIOS (if possible) and adjust the memory settings, or get memory that runs below 2133MHz.

I've been under the impression my whole life that if the ram operates at a higher speed than the mobo, the mobo just clocks it down to the next appropriate level. Am I wrong in this?

Nevertheless, I'm going to be picking up just one stick of Crucial 2133 8GB this morning, I'm leaving in about 45 minutes - so stay tuned!

Got to Microcenter, brought my computer with so I was able to work on it there in the store. Bought a stick of 2133 Crucial memory, same issue. I have fixed the issue and for me it was the processor. I bought a new i5-6600k threw it in and it worked immediately. So there shouldn't be any issue with the clock of the RAM running at 2666. I have since upped the clock on my mobo to 2666 and it's working perfectly.

So if you have a local computer place that would sell your 6700k I would recommend just going and buying one and returning your other back for a refund.
