Help!

So a while ago I had to restore my windows install, I am not going to go into why, but anyways because I am not stupid I made a backup, which I have. But sense I made the backup from a hp computer it now wont let me restore the files. It is a bunch of wim files and a .exe that when you open says it will make a file on my desktop but it doesn't. I trued it in windows 8.1 and 10 but both don't work. PLEASE HELP

Accoridng to this source, the file created on your desktop is just a shortcut to C:\System Recovery Files 

So if the program did it's job, all your files should be there. But if it didn't work, you can try to open those files with WINRAR or 7zip, (try to extract all the files, I suspect that the backup is devided into a bunch of files)
