So this is my second build with the R4. This one is going to officially be my backup/second computer. It has some parts from a previous rig, plus a couple of new/used things I bought. So the specs are:

 

i7 4770k

MSI GD-65 Z87

XFX 7950 Double Dissipation

16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum

Corsair CX750

250GB Samsung 840 Evo

1TB WD Black

Some TP-Link Wifi Card

Stock Cooler (bleh... will be changed eventually)

and of course a Fractal Design Define R4

 

I went with the 7950 mainly because it still performs pretty well, and it was cheap. You can pick these up for under $100. So I wanted to make it a really clean, and simple build. This is about the best/cleanest cable management that I have ever done. Really no big modifications were done to the case. Only thing I did was remove the middle drive bays, and the things that hold it in place. I wrapped the CD drive bay, and the other hard drive bay with carbon fiber. Next time I do a CD drive bay wrap, I'm going to make sure that there isn't a concave dent in it from the design of the bay. I am really happy the way it came out. I like the big blank spot where the hard drive bay use to be, and the look of the carbon fiber wrap. If I were to change anything, it would probably be getting a real cooler, and sleeving the cables. But really for just a backup/second computer, this is more than enough

Why exhaust at the bottom and intake at the top? apart from that,nice backup rig !!

Wish i could do a similar cable management >.> My PSU cables are hard to move around.

Really for no reason other than looks. Since my computer sits on the floor, I always see the top of the fans, and I think it just looks way better than seeing the back. Temps are all really good, and dust just isn't a huge problem. Thanks!

@brycef9mm You should get a better cooler. Probably a cheap air cooler. They are better then the ones that come with the CPU.

Definitely. Just waiting on a deal to come up on something I like. But for now this works.

Yeah you should get one when there are deals. It will be more worth it.
