Thermal paste questions

Go to solution Solved by Samdb,

If it's pre-applied keep it, if not go for the Arctic. A  large(ish) rice grain should do the trick.

Hi guys I have a few questions about thermal paste. I recently got a Cooler Master Seidon 240m water cooler and I was wondering if I should use the thermal paste that came with it or I also have some Artic Silver 5. Which would be better?

Also how much should you apply to a socket 2011 chip? I know slightly more is needed but how much more?

Thanks

Arctic Sliver 5 will be better but use the original thermal paste for the first mount.

Use about amount of rice and aftermarket thermalpaste is better but it is not worth it!

It is not applied just in a tube. So it would be best to use the AS5 then, thanks!

I already have some so it wouldn't make sense not using it.

The thermal paste included is of a pretty good quality, but Artic Silver would be better.

On 2011 make a fine line on about 66% of the heatspreaders lenght. 2011 CPUs are pretty big, so the uncooked rice in not going to cut it

So using the line method would be better than the pea method? Thats what I was thinking as well.
