coffin1
Go to solution Solved by 007agentHP,

that will game at 1440p nicely with most games running at high/ultra

I have a Sapphire Vapor-x 4gb, and i was always wondering if i could game well enough with a 2k monitor with that graphics card. Any help would be appreciated!

Is that the r9 280x or r9 290x? I am assuming it is the r9 290x because it says "4" then "b" and you might have just left the "g" out.

What is the model of the card? Vram is irrelevant until we know the model.

not sure if the 290x had a 4g version but I do know sapphire made a 290 with the vapor x and it had 4g and if that is your card yes you will be fine to game or do other things at 1080p.

WHICH 4 GB GPU?

a gtx 950 4gb wont run 1080p.

we need to know which gpu you are interested in. the minimum for 1440p is a r9 280x.

sorry to hijack this thread...but i'm considering a 1440p display as well and i have a GTX780 which i believe offer similar performance to the R9 290 that you have OP.

i know for a fact that many games i will NOT be able to run ultra settings but a mix of high and 2xMSAA i think is doable for most modern AAA titles? can somebody comment on this what is your impressions will i be disapointed moving to 1440p with a 780? will i feel a urgent need to upgrade? i play battlefields game the most and some lighter games as well...and from time to time newer titles such as GTA 5 for example.
