need a good UPS

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

I'm looking for a good reliable uninterruptable power supply that will run at least 750w (full load) for an hour (backup time) but doesn't cost an arm and a leg, anyone have a preference?

Are you going to be at full load for an hour most don't last that long at full load at most a few mins. Something like this from APC is a good quality unit if your looking for UPS's where are your located it will give us a better idea of which units are good for you:

not on a daily basis but worst case that would as long as i would need it run full on. But maybe something that runs at maybe 20 minutes full load would be more reasonable i suppose, I intend on having a pretty power hungry machine attached to it, but i want to at least run long enough to be able to save what I'm doing if I end up in a raid zero config which is what i'm hoping to do (not brave enough to try without UPS) I'm in Michigan USA in the lower peninsula. I don't have the greatest power infrastructure in my house and we are prone to blown fuses

Hmm you might want to get an electrician in sometime to take a look at that if your blowing fuses a lot, your circuits are most likely overloaded.

As for the UPS as long as your not pushing your machine to the max constantly the UPS I linked earlier would do the job and give you a fair bit of time to save your data, if you want extended run time ones those cost a lot more since they are business/server oriented units and require lots of batteries:

we intend to have it redone i was hoping though to get one just for peace of mind in between and after. I'll of course auto backup with my raid 0 but i just prefer the peace of mind afforded by a UPS. The first one you linked should be perfect, and for the price its a perfect solution! thank you!

thought it was a typo lol

never heard of a UPS

Works great for power outages or brown outs where you get bad power, to hep prevent data loss, not to mention having wifi/internet during blackout  :D
