Reinstalling Windows

itscatbug

Hello.

So I decided to reinstall Windows on my PC. I have Windows and a few programs ond my SSD (82GB free of 237GB) and lots of data, games and programs on my HDD(151GB free of 931GB). If I unplug my HDD during the fresh install, will all the programs and games work after I installed Windows again? Is there anything else I need to know? I'm doing this to fix GTA5 not working since april. Btw, I used a technique (can't remember which one) to move the User folders (documents, pics etc) to the HDD.

Thanks

Do couple things. Backup every software folder you need in /users/Documents and /Users/AppData/Roaming. Also C:/ProgramData. These will be saved by install process if you select to save previous install files. After reinstall, paste then back in correct folders. That will trick some of software to work. Not all and you don't see any of them in start menu or Remove program listing (as they aren't really installed in that Windows). With games running from central client like Steam and Origin, you can just install Client again and point it where your games are.

There will be some stuff that doesn't work because they have saved something in registery. Those will have to be reinstalled. But you can still copy-paste config files.
