I've recently added a second MSI 970 4g Gaming, and I've been thinking my performance was less than lacking. Recently I've seen some of the problems on forums with no answers.
I'm getting awful 3d mark scores, bummer but I can handle that..
But my game performance is god awful..
I average around 37-38 fps in Witcher 3 with 970 Sli. That's ridiculous..
I noticed card two is way undervolted, even under load it only gets to 1.175v vs 1.218v of card 1

Any help would be appreciated, I'm out of ideas.

Edit--

I found a helpful areticle on the forums: http://www.overclock.net/t/1544813/voltage-in-sli-issues-evga-gtx-970-ssc-fixed

After applying an overclock with a 40mhz delta over gpu 2 my voltages are reading correctly and my scores have gone up tremendously.
I'm able to actually put an overclock on it that works, as long as I keep card one 40mhz higher than the other.

Raised my graphics score by 2,00 points and an increase in gaming performance without god awful stutter

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.

What's the clock speed on your 4690k?

Because the graphics score doesn't seem too out of place. 19k with two 970s sounds pretty near to right considering one does 9-11k.

Well overclock the shit out of it.

And 12k is the overall score.

19k is the graphics score, which isn't good, but it's not out of the realm of possibility with the relatively low clock speeds you are reporting.

http://www.3dmark.com/fs/4758223

Look for example here. 26k graphics score but his base clocks are all the way up to 1350 compared to yours.

Also he has an 18k physics score (cpu) where you only have a 7k score.

(Which would indicate some harsh cpu underpower)

Btw on witcher 3 what settings and resolution are you playing on?

Is hairworks enabled?

On witcher 3 I have it on high settings at 1440 with hairworks set to geralt only.
It stays right at 37-38 fps.
I've been having trouble overclocking it, when I do even an insignificant over clock heaven and 3d mark starts locking up???
I've tried doing it with them linked, and individually

I mean cpu overclocking. Not gpu (although you should do that too.)

Are you using afterburner for gpus?

Unless you got some odd msaa setting on that seems about 10 fps lower than what I'd expect to see with high settings on 1440p with those graphics cards.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DB72dmXr7LQg&ved=0CB8QtwIwAWoVChMIwcqK-NLSxwIVxhc-Ch2jMgK-&usg=AFQjCNGfLpklo3nUW0ZNR9YiYocdOElTbQ&sig2=kp2GCvfqz5BSWxVsTFt85g

Sitting between 48-58 fps on ultra without hairworks.

But his 970s sit at 1500 mhz and his 4790k sits at 4.7. Big drop down to a 4690k at 3.9 and two 970s at 1300 or so.

I am using afternurner, but just downloaded precision x and I'm gonna give it a try.
So it's normal for the second card's voltage to be that much lower??
I've got it on 4x msaa

Normal enough. Increase power target and mv offset as high as you can. +200 at least should be easy to get.

Mem clock should handle +300-500 easily to.

Seriously though get that cpu overclocked. Sitting at 3.9 without ht is pretty lame.

For the cpu overclocking if you aren't using the idiotic stock cooler then run up to 1.3V and try to hit 45-48 on the Multiplier. Should be doable.

I have a 4690o and I could get it to base clock 101 and multiplier 43 and it's stable but even little more of that crashes me.

Drop base clock back to 100 and increase voltage up to 1.3 assuming you can cool it (which isn't hard on that chip) then you should be able to hit 45-48 mp.
