GTAV 50+fps drop

So I've been playing GTAV.

 

All was running well until a few days ago, where I'd randomly go from smooth 60fps gameplay, to a sudden 10 or lower fps.

 

Temperatures are all normal, and the drop happens anywhere, inside a house or flying or standing still looking at the sky. In the menu, FPS jumps back up, but nothing else works. Started happening after I had to disable SLI to play World of Warships, have re-enabled SLI and faffed around with settings but nothing seems to work.

 

I run a i5 4690, SLI 970s, 16GB RAM and GTA is on a Crucial SSD. Again, temperatures are all what I consider normal, nothing flies out at me.

 

Any ideas? :(  :angry:  :huh:

I have the same it's just a heavy not super optimized game, try to lower the viewing distance and grass effects.

Even so, though, I've never had this problem before a few days ago.

It is the game. In the open I can get 120FPS but in the dense city it can drop to 50

Just keeping this here as a I also have 2 970's and had the same problem. Are you using nvidia optimized game settings? If so remember that they did some weird stuff with the v-ram so you only have 3.5gb instead of 4gb. Try lowering the settings in gta so that you are using less than 6gb on the little bar in the settings. I used 6 and not 7 because I found that the bar is not accurate and I was using more than 3gb (remembering that it says that you have 8gb available when you only have 3.5gb because v-ram does not stack. The bar in the gta settings tab says that you have 8gb. What it does is double the number, so device the number it gives you by 2 and that is roughly how much ram you are going to use).
