Which is better?

MaximusX
Go to solution Solved by Windows2000,

The 745 should be slightly better. And by slightly, I really mean slightly.

They're both pretty average cards you would expect to find on an OEM build.

I would personally choose whatever card has the most vRAM, but according to GPUBoss and Game-Debate, the 745 outperforms the 250.

Amd r7 250 or gtx 745(I own both)

Desktop 1: CPU: Intel Core i7 4770  GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 Ram: Crucial DDR3 2x8GB 1600 MHz  Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 250GB and Segate 1TB Hard drive  Desktop 2: CPU: Intel Pentium G3258  GPU: AMD R7 250  Ram: Corsair Vengance DRR3 2x8GB 1600 MHz  Mobo: MSI H81M-E33  PSU: Corsair CX430M  Case: Rosewill MicroAtx Mini Tower

Passmark is a terrible site and should not be trusted.

Why not? I'm interested now.

Me too. Tell us. I know, it's not real world but that's the point in static comparison.

Passmark is an awesome benchmark. Just not a good benchmark for gaming (the OP never mentioned gaming)

Passmark is pretty reliable.

I disagree with Passmark being a terrible site but the benchmark is extremely biased towards Nvidia for some reason. The site is only useful if comparing AMD to AMD or Nvidia to Nvidia.

Intel i7 3770K [] Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 [] MSI R9 290X 4GB [] 16GB  G.SKILL 2133Mhz [] Crucial MX100 256GB [] WD Black 1TB [] XFX Pro 850W [] Fractal Define R3 [] Func MS-3 R2 [] Corsair K60 []

Nvidia's architecture performs better at this specific test just like AMD performs better at others. It's not a biased benchmark, it's just different cards that perform differently.
