 So since I can't really sleep well I spent last night digging through old GPU specs and forums and when looking at the 400 and 5000 series I noticed that Nvidia's TDPs were off the charts yet people were still saying that AMD ran hotter. I'm starting to think nobody even checks when they talk xD
For reference: 480's TDP is 250W, 5870's TDP is around 190W

Nothing old really, we all know Nvidia was the hotter one back in the day. It's just that many are just too ignorant to research.

I actually miss the days when reference blower coolers were sufficient for cooling - I really like how they look and that the case stays cool

Titan coolers are sufficient and look amazing. !?!?!!?!

87*C and it starts thorttling - close but not there.

The 5870 reference ran at max clocks @ around 80*C IIRC

My 970 ran at 70c on 50% fan speed @1500 on the core. The only hot card is the 980 ti. (maybe titan?)

Yup. This one. All of them come with samsung memory and overclock really well.

Meh, the r9 290/x reference cooler was trash.

The last good looking amd ref cooler was 5xxx/6xxx. I didn't like the look of the 7xxxx cooler.

I like dthe 5000 and 7000 coolers and these also looked promising
