CPU & RAM - Which Would Be Better?

How Stable Asus Motherboards are? In terms of Memory Overclocking or Processor? Asus TUF series are very reliable and with exeptional board heat dissipation. Rog series are obviously great overclockers due to theyr software and specialized engines. As far as White motherboards from asus (Deluxe) its mostly reliant on software as wireless technologies get better and demand higher quality antennas and signal receivers. Theyr still Asus quality mobos and are matchable to the ROG and TUF without the "sweet" hardware differences that should present a better overclocking potential/stability for the parts in particular.

So as you know by now I'm really rusty at this stuff and when I left the world of computers DDR4 was just coming out for the first time. Now that it has had a while to stabilize and things its got me wondering. I plan on building my gf's rig, however I'm not sure if it would be better to go with:

Option A:

i5 - 6600K, with ddr4 and motherboard

Option B:

i5 - 4690K, with ddr3 and motherboard

I guess I need a comparison of which one is better and why, I know the newer ddr4 are more expensive and less efficient, but performance wise whats the difference?

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

Option A (No questions, No answers). Its just better :P in efficiency, performance and long term upgradebility. Also less efficient? Its the opposite in DDR4...

And that was going to be my answer, how stable is the Asus motherboards for that line tho? Particularly the white ones, since its going with a purple theme.

the 6600k is only a slight improvement and imho not worth it, many will tell you the same, ddr4 costs more than ddr3 and is pointless in gaming, you will see no improvements.

if the build for your girlfriend will not  be used for anything more than gaming then dont waste money that could be put towards something else in the build.

Asus motherboards are amazing.

Option A, but get ddr3 ram. You may too much for ddr4

You realize you can't pair ddr3 ram with that processor and motherboard right?

Also this is the one I thought about getting

What motherboard? You just said "motherboard"

I thought the i5-6600k was compatible with ddr3, my bad.

I meant with a ddr4 motherboard and cpu. Also linked the motherboard in the above post.
